charlie duffRetirement after 39 Years Service

Charlie Duff retires from Wyllie Recycling Ltd on 26th October 2016 after 39 years service.

He started when the business was owned by James W Henderson and his first job was on the baler but can turn his hand to anything in the Operations part of the business.

He says he will miss the people who work here and the daily chat amongst his colleagues.

Although he's retiring from Wyllie's he still plans to keep busy by working in his local pub and watch his favourite football team. We wish Charlie all the best for his well deserved retirement.

Changes to Food Waste Regulations 2016

What is changing?

All Scottish organisations should already be separating key recyclates as the Waste (Scotland) Regulations came into effect on 1 January 2014.

Two years from the initial regulations being introduced, two changes take place on 1 January 2016. Organisations should be aware that:

  1. Food businesses producing over 5kg of food waste per week will need to present it for recycling.
    • How much is 5kg of food waste? It is usually equivalent to a 10 litre food caddy or a full carrier bag.
  2. Food waste macerators cannot be used to discharge food waste to a drain or sewer unless the rural exemption applies.

New Service Announcement

Scotlands waste collection & recycling new legislation

x10 wrl

As you may be aware the law on waste is changing for ALL commercial businesses in Scotland.

From 1st January 2014 the Waste Scotland Regulations mean that all organisations, big or small, will be required to recycle their cardboard, paper, plastics, metals and glass OR risk a SEPA fine.
Most food businesses will also be required to have food waste collected separately for AD Biogas.

Here at Wyllie Recycling we are delighted to announce our new services to accommodate these changes in legislation and accordingly we advise that as of 1st January 2014 we will be collecting all of the following waste types separately on a scheduled service around Perth & Tayside areas.

  • FOOD WASTE
  • CLEAR GLASS
  • COLOURED GLASS
  • OFFICE PAPER
  • CANS & TINS
  • WEEE
  • OTHER CO-MINGLED RECYCLABLE WASTE UPLIFTS WILL CONTINUE AS NORMAL

The above waste streams will be collected in our new POD lorry, which has the ability to uplift 6 different waste types at the same time – the only one in the UK.
